Here are some Rhode Island family vacation ideas families with children recommend and a few pointers to get you on your way. 

Your typical family vacation to Rhode Island will typically then include a little beach action (and inaction), visiting some historic old Mansions, and some time on the water -perhaps viewing some whales. But these are not the limits of a family trip to Rhode Island.

The Breakers is the most excessive of all the Mansions in Newport for a miserly seven  million.  The Vanderbilt family was social as well as rich thanks to steamships and the York Central Railroad.
